The session featured Javed I. Khan, an eminent forensic scientist from California, USA, as the distinguished keynote speaker. With an MPhil in Biochemistry from the University of California, Riverside, and over 35 years of experience with the California State Department of Justice, Riverside Crime Laboratory, he has made exceptional contributions in forensic chemistry, biology, and toxicology, alongside authoring several research publications and textbooks.
The lecture was attended enthusiastically by a large number of students, faculty members, and healthcare professionals, including Maj. Gen. (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Vice Chancellor, CUI (proposed), and Yasir Khan Niazi, Group CEO GAK HealthCare.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students and faculty, who actively engaged in the lecture and discussions, reflecting their keen interest in emerging innovations in health sciences.

Students from the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program presented models focused on laboratory automation, diagnostic innovation, and healthcare research. The presentations were evaluated by an expert panel comprising Prof. Humayoon Shafique Satti (NUMS), Dr. Massab Umair (NIH), and Dr. Zaineb Akram (NUMS). Prof. Dr. Rizwan Uppal, Founding Chairman & CEO, Islamabad Diagnostic Centre (IDC), attended as Chief Guest. He inaugurated the event, toured student exhibits, and appreciated the participants’ scientific approach. In his address, he underscored the importance of clinical research, academic collaboration, and industry–academia linkages, and expressed IDC’s interest in future academic and clinical partnerships. Prof. Dr. Rizwan Uppal also visited the BA/BE (Bioavailability & Bioequivalence) Lab and the Clinical Trials Unit, where he reviewed research workflows. The BA/BE Lab was highlighted as the third such facility in Pakistan, marking a significant advancement in national clinical research infrastructure.

Dr. Usman Waheed, Associate Professor and Principal, Islamabad Medical Technology College, emphasized integrating innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill-based training into laboratory education. Dr. Usman Tareen, Assistant Professor and In-charge, Bioequivalence Lab, ANTH, encouraged students to pursue research careers in emerging areas such as molecular diagnostics and digital laboratory systems. Mr. Shahan Irshad, Country Head, Sind Medical Stores, shared plans for establishing a Training Lab and Display Centre at IMDC, focusing on advanced molecular technologies, including next-generation sequencing (NGS).
