The event marked a memorable beginning to their professional journey with a video documentary highlighting the legacy and excellence of the institutions, followed by the symbolic white coat wearing and student introductions.
The students then took their professional oath, pledging dedication and compassion in their future roles as healthcare providers. In his insightful address, Group CEO Yasir Khan Niazi emphasized the indispensable role of nurses in patient care, highlighted how medical laboratory technologists play a crucial part in disease diagnosis and accurate treatment, and shed light on the growing importance of rehabilitation sciences in modern healthcare.

GAK HealthCare International’s constituent institutions, Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC) and Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital (ANTH), successfully organized an interactive hands-on training workshop on “Essential Surgical Skills.” The workshop attracted a large number of participants from IMDC, ANTH, and other prestigious institutions including Al Nafees Medical College, Isra University, ASMC, and International Islamic University. Organized by the Surgery & Allied Department of IMDC/ANTH under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza, the training provided valuable learning opportunities through live demonstrations, hands-on practice, interactive sessions, and an engaging Q&A segment. Dr. Areej Neyazi, Director Hospital, also graced the event with her presence. The workshop proved to be a highly impactful and enriching experience, equipping participants with modern surgical techniques and essential practical skills.

The high-level delegation, joined by the Pakistan Embassy Indonesia in Islamabad, RSM Pakistan & Indonesia, and facilitated by Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met key stakeholders in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Talks with Governor H.E. Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena focused on deploying specialized doctors, establishing a medical college modeled after Islamabad Medical & Dental College, and creating a research and training hub.
Further discussions with Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Investment explored advancing technology-driven healthcare services. Yasir Khan Niazi said: “Our expansion comes at a time when the Asia-Pacific healthcare sector is forecasted to reach USD 5 trillion by 2030, nearly 40% of global growth. Southeast Asia’s education technology market alone is projected to surge from USD 10.7 billion in 2024 to USD 41.5 billion by 2033. Building on GAK’s successful models in Pakistan — spanning hospitals, medical, dental, nursing, and allied health sciences colleges — we are committed to positioning Pakistan as a hub of knowledge, healthcare excellence, and innovation. This initiative will not only raise standards of care and education but also generate significant economic value for our nation and its diaspora, founded on integrity, innovation, and sustainable impact.”
Support was also pledged by the West Manggarai Regent for health tourism, while Nusa Cendana University and RSUD Komodo Hospital welcomed collaboration through academic exchanges, joint research, and capacity building. Imran Ali Ghouri, Head of Communications, remarked: “This marks a transformational shift in how Pakistan’s private sector is perceived internationally, offering investors and governments a unique opportunity for impactful partnerships with strong social and economic returns. In observance of World No Tobacco Day 2025, students from GAK HealthCare International’s institutions Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC), Islamabad Nursing College (INC), Islamabad Rehabilitation Sciences College (IRSC), and Islamabad Medical Technology College (IMTC) participated in an art exhibition organized by the Tobacco Control Cell of Federal Ministry of Health, Deputy Commissioner Office, and World Health Organization (WHO). Held at the Ministry, the event featured compelling artwork from students belonging to various institutions across Islamabad, raising awareness about the harms of tobacco and the need to protect youth.

Dr Areej Neyazi, Director Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital, and Imran Ali Ghouri, Head of Communication, were invited to represent GAK HealthCare in a graceful Launching Ceremony of Toolkit for Tobacco Control held at the Ministry of Health. IMDC Sports Week 2025 brought together talent, teamwork, and true sportsmanship across an exciting range of events — from courts to fields, students showcased their energy and passion in every game. The atmosphere was electric, the competition was fierce, and the memories made will last a lifetime. Here are the champions of the week: 4th Year MBBS dominated table tennis (boys’ singles & doubles, girls’ singles) and girls’ badminton and volleyball. 1st Year MBBS won girls’ doubles table tennis, boys’ basketball, and futsal. INC and AHS emerged victorious in boys’ badminton and cricket, while INC and AHS Juniors secured the boys’ volleyball title. BDS Juniors took the win in girls’ basketball. The week concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony, where medals and certificates were distributed among the winners, and shields were presented to the faculty members who organized and supported the successful execution of Sports Week 2025.

Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC) collaborated with the Pakistan Institute of Medical and Dental Institutions (PAMI) to host a pre-conference roundtable meeting on International Medical Conference (IMC), 2024 theme – “AI Horizons in Medicine and Dentistry: Navigating the Future.” The purpose of this roundtable conference was to provide a dynamic platform to educators, administrators, and other stakeholders in the medical field where they discussed AI-enhanced educational content and tools in the field of medicine and dentistry. Prof. Lubna Baig, Director Medical Education Program - University of Lahore; and Dr. Syed Hasan Shoaib, Director Program Evaluation and Quality Assurance - University of Lahore, were notable speakers in the roundtable meeting. Both speakers presented extensively on AI’s transformative journey in medicine.
CEO IMDC/ANTH and President of the PAMI’s Federal Chapter Yasir Khan Niazi addressed the meeting while stating, “We have always stood at the forefront of embracing technological advancements in medical education. IMDC’s teaching hospital, Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital, has already spearheaded incorporation of AI technology in its diagnostic laboratory and both IMDC and ANTH are carrying out research projects on AI in a bid to improve patient care and medical & dental education.”

The objective of this training was to engage the private sector and promote public-private partnership for sharing knowledge to save newborns. More than 50 participants from ANTH and various other private and public hospitals attended training led by Prof. Dr Irfan Waheed. Dr. Zafar Mirza highlighted that it is alarming that the number of newborn deaths in Pakistan is 42 per 1000 live births and, in the face of such distressing numbers, initiatives like this training create
hope that relevant stakeholders are on the right track to meet national commitments to reduce these numbers.

Yasir Khan Niazi said while addressing the ceremony that it was a source of great esteem for ANTH to organize the first-of-its-kind engagement with UNICEF in healthcare. He further said that, “I feel like it is an honor for us to be able to produce the doctors of the future who are willing, ready, and equipped with the knowledge and the technical skills to counter this challenge of high neonatal death rate in Pakistan.” Dr. Inoussa Kabore said that it is important that we bring key stakeholders together to impart standardized training to pediatricians in order to attain quality care and improved outcomes for newborn health in Pakistan. HOD Pediatrics Department ANTH, Prof. Dr. Rubina Zulfiqar and Dr. Samia thanked all the dignitaries, facilitators, trainers, and the ANTH management for their dedication to making this training productive and engaging.

Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC)'s Department of Physiology organized Independence Day celebrations at IMDC. Students from MBBS, BDS, and Nursing participated in various competitions like the best-decorated classroom, best-dressed student, and best-dressed faculty member. The celebrations carried on with different activities planned for the day. The students had put together a program that concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony with Dr. Areej Neyazi, Deputy Director ANTH/IMDC. This celebration was not only a moment of national pride but also an opportunity for students of different years and disciplines to come together and celebrate the spirit of independence.


Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC)'s Career Development Office (CDO) organised a session on “Learn Through Our Experience - Road to USMLE Step 1” by Dr. Balaj Sarwar. Dr. Balaj, an alumnus IMDC, shared his insights on navigating through the challenging journey of the USMLE Step 1 examination. Students from various batches attended the session to gain knowledge on acing USMLE and excelling in their medical careers. Dr. Iram Iqbal, the CDO Director, presented a memento to Dr. Balaj in recognition of his contribution.

IMDC's Counselling Cell organized an enlightening seminar featuring Dr. Sohail Habib Tajik, DDG Anti Narcotics Force, and Motivational Speaker. The session was on Emotional Intelligence with the theme "Unlock the Power of Emotional Intelligence - Discover a new you." Leading the event's coordination was Dr. Saffia Shoukat. The attendees, comprising students and esteemed faculty members, were captivated by the session's engaging content. Through a thought-provoking series of self-evaluation questions, the audience gained valuable insights into their emotional intelligence as future doctors. As a gesture of gratitude, CEO ANTH/IMDC Yasir Khan Niazi, Director ANTH and Principal IMDC presented Dr. Sohail Tajik with a shield as a token of appreciation for his invaluable contribution.

Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC)'s Student Research Society (SRS) organized a workshop on "The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Diagnostics" conducted by speakers Aiman Khan and Waleed Umar from Slosh Company. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Asma Irfan, SRS curated this event to explore the dynamic synergy between AI and healthcare. From exploring AI's potential in medical diagnostics to interactive discussions with industry experts, it was an insightful experience for all participants. The trainees received certificates of participation in the workshop.

The career carnival proved to be an extraordinary opportunity for attendees to interact with experts, gain insights into various medical career paths in Medical, Dental, Allied Health Sciences, Army Medical Corps, PLAB, USMLE, FCPS and many more. They had an enjoyable time at stalls with career-oriented and personality assessment activities. The participants commended the event's exceptional organization and found it highly informative.

Congratulations to Alisha Atiq, MBBS 2nd year student from Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC), for winning the first prize in the Tobacco Control Art Exhibition 2023. The event was organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) Pakistan in collaboration with Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHSRC), ICT Administration Islamabad, and The Union (Not for Profit Organization). The campaign invited students from various educational institutions to participate in an art competition, with the theme of "Grow Food, Not Tobacco" by WHO in honor of World No Tobacco Day 2023.

Major General (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam, a renowned educationist with numerous national and international awards and nearly four decades of active teaching and research experience in Physiology, was the Chief Guest.
A panel of judges included Principal IMDC Prof. Dr. Irfan Syed, Deputy Director ANTH Dr. Areej Neyazi, Prof. Dr. Naghmi Asif, and Dr. Hina Mehmood, the Head of Periodontology. Chairman of ANTH/IMDC Dr. Ghulam Akbar Khan Niazi and Managing Director Yasir Khan Niazi graced the event with their presence.
In the Original Writing category, the first position was secured by Nibras Randhawa and his team (3rd-year MBBS), the second position was awarded to Hassaan Farooq (4th-year MBBS) and Dr. Noor ul Ain (House Officer), and the third place was achieved by Dr. Shamama Asif, a Post Graduate trainee from Islamabad Dental Hospital. In the Scientific Writing category, Mina Waheed secured the first position, a team from BDS won the second position, and Romaan Faisal & Muhammad Murad and their respective team shared the third place. The winners were honored with shields, certificates, and cash prizes.

The Chief Guest praised the IMDC for its contributions to medical research. Dr. Ghulam Akbar Khan Niazi addressed the audience and expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Asma Irfan, the Patron in Chief of SRS, acknowledged the remarkable research efforts undertaken by her team.

After careful consideration, the Obstetrics & Gynecologic section of the nursing department claimed the well-deserved 1st prize, while the talented team at the OPD on Level 1 secured the runner-up position. The dedicated nursing team of ANTH Female Ward on Level 4 got the 3rd position.

International Nurses Day 2023 was celebrated at ANTH with unparalleled zeal and zest, with colorful activities on May 11 and May 12, highlighting the invaluable contributions of our nurses. The patients and their attendants were pleased to see the festivity at ANTH. The hospital management expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the CON and the entire department for commemorating this significant day with healthy and positive activities.

Islamabad Medical & Dental College held convocation for its Medical, Dental, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences pass-outs. Hundreds of MBBS, BDS, DPT, MLT and Nursing graduates attended the event along with their parents and family members.
Lieutenant General Nigar Johar Khan, Former Surgeon General/DGMS (IS) graced the event as the Chief Guest. Other notables who attended the event included Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tanwir Khaliq and Registrar Dr. Maqbool Hussain. Academic, intellectual, corporate and social personalities and media representatives participated in a large number in the convocation.
IMDC’s Chairman Dr. Ghulam Akbar Khan Niazi, Managing Director Yasir Khan Niazi, Principal Prof. Dr. Syed Irfan Ahmed, Project Director Dr. Khurshid Ahmed and Principal Dental Section Prof. Dr. Haroon Shahid Qazi welcomed the guests. IMDC’s Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and HODs of different departments of the college were present on this occasion.
Lieutenant General Nigar Johar Khan presented medals to the best graduates and acknowledged the efforts of IMDC to impart high quality medical education along with advising the graduates to uphold the best professional ethics while practicing in the sacred field of medicine. Addressing the graduates, the Chief Guest said that "I am confident that you will make your college and your country proud of you through your hard work, perseverance and dedicated service to humanity."
Principal IMDC Prof. Dr. Syed Irfan Ahmed advised the graduates to keep learning new knowledge and enhancing their professional skills to be able to always better serve the ailing humanity.
Graduates and their parents were glad and thanked IMDC management for organizing such an excellent convocation for awarding them medals and degrees.
IMDC management expressed that the college is always following its moto of “providing a base to serve humanity,” and it will keep making significant contributions in the field of medical education and healthcare.
Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC) in collaboration with Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital (ANTH) organized a hiking event at Margalla hiking trail 3 in Islamabad with a colorful opening ceremony.
A large number of medical, dental, physical therapy, allied health sciences, and nursing students, faculty members, as well as people from different walks of life, participated in the hiking event with full zeal and zest. Top management of IMDC and ANTH and staff members were also present at the opening ceremony to encourage students.
The hiking event, which included music and fun activities, ended with a prize distribution ceremony. Students, faculty members, and other partakers thanked IMDC management for organizing such a useful event which they enjoyed a great deal and expressed that they expect the college would arrange more such activities for them in the future.

Hospital Yasir Khan Niazi had a meeting with Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Sadiq
Sanjrani to discuss the situation of Healthcare and Medical Education in Pakistan.
The Chairman Senate acknowledged the contributions made by IMDC/ANTH for the
betterment of these sectors. He also appreciated IMDC's contribution in providing Medical
Education opportunities to students from different provinces, especially Balochistan.
Challenges faced by medical colleges and their possible solutions were also discussed in
the meeting.



Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC) in collaboration with Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital (ANTH) successfully conducted annual Cricket Tournament in Islamabad. IMDC, ANTH, Islamabad Dental Hospital, Islamabad Nursing College, Department of Physical Therapy and Medical Lab Technology teams participated in the tournament.
Students, faculty and staff members took part in the event with full zeal and zest. Senior management of IMDC and ANTH was present on this occasion to encourage the players. IDH won the tournament while IMDC was the runners-up. ANTH and MLT teams were the semifinalists in the tournament.
Yasir Niazi, IMDC/ANTH’s Managing Director, said on this occasion that IMDC and ANTH organize extra-curricular activities every year and it is dedicated to providing healthy environment to its students alongside educating these aspiring medical practitioners who would serve the community by inculcating values of professionalism, life-long learning, physical fitness, competent practice of medicine and ethical research.
Imran Ali Ghouri, In charge of IMDC/ANTH’s Communications, told media that the cricket tournament was held to motivate students particularly to be part of extra-curricular activities in order to be fit mentally as well as physically, adding that ”it also helps in raising awareness in the society about adopting a healthy lifestyle.” He further told that IMDC also organizes co-curricular activities week every year, which includes sports like volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, cricket along with fun fair, bake sale, arts exhibition, quiz, debates and poetry competitions.
The management expressed that the organization is determined to providing conducive environment to each of the students and staff memebers so their intellectual and physical capabilities are groomed in the best possible way.

with medical advice, nutrition advice, screening and fitness testing at no cost along with free
medications.
The visitors were also presented with giveaways and discount vouchers.

successfully organizing the camp and raising awareness about prevention and treatment of certain
diseases in the community.

ANTH is committed to spreading awareness and providing quality Breast Cancer services in its One-Stop Breast Clinic, and emphasizes the importance of early detection to cure this fatal disease as it is easier to treat when found early.
The hospital and college are also organizing awareness sessions in various educational institutions and the corporate sector to spread the message of self-examination and screening for early detection of Breast Cancer.


Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Sajjad (HOD & Associate Professor, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University) was invited to talk to DPT students regarding national and international job opportunities for them in academic and clinical sectors.

Managing Director ANTH/IMDC, Yasir Khan Niazi, was also present on the occasion and encouraged the students to excel in their careers and make wise decisions when appropriate. The speaker also addressed the questions of students at the end of an informative session.

Many students, faculty members and senior management visited the screening point and got their screening done. World Heart Day is an opportunity for everyone to stop and consider how best to use their hearts for humanity, for nature and for themselves.


IMDC and ANTH initiated the Flood Relief Drive in the wake of recent floods in Pakistan and garnered around PKR 4 million worth of relief items including 3.25 million in cash and many other items like food, clothes & medicines. Senior management of IMDC and ANTH welcomed the visiting team of AlKhidmat Foundation led by Air Marshal (R) Farooq Habib.
Chairman IMDC/ANTH Dr. Ghulam Akbar Khan Niazi handed over the donation cheque and other items to the foundation team. The Chairman appreciated the hospital and college staff for making the initial phase of this drive a big success, further expressing that the organizations will keep collaborating with AlKhidmat to help the needy people in flood-hit areas.
Yasir Niazi, Managing Director IMDC/ANTH, said on this occasion that in view of the urgent need of help for the flood affected people in Pakistan, the hospital and college initiated the flood relief campaign and started conducting free medical camps in the flood-affected areas to provide free care and medicines. He further said that IMDC & ANTH will continue to carry out more work in this regard in coming days.

Nearly 500 patients were seen in the camp where they received free medical checkup & medicines. This was the only medical camp in the region with female doctors keeping in mind the cultural sensitivities. The locals appreciated IMDC & ANTH's efforts for them during these hard times.

Renowned professors and doctors from various health institutions, physiotherapy students and the college management participated in the seminar & walk to spread awareness about healthy lifestyle as well as the preventive measures & treatment options for good health.

Islamabad Medical & Dental College and Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital have been accredited by College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) for Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (FCPS) Training in General Surgery, Pediatrics, Radiology & Obstetrics and Gynecology Departments and Member of the College of Physicians & Surgeons (MCPS) Training in Radiology Department.
CPSP awarded the accreditation in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations for accreditation of training programs on the basis of a thorough physical inspection of various departments ANTH and IMDC.

After the quick paced and fun filled Co-Curricular week held at IMDC in March 2022, came the much-anticipated prize distribution ceremony on the 1st of July, 2022.
The ceremony was attended by the Chairman Dr. Akbar Khan Niazi, Chief Pathologist/Advisor to Chairman Prof. Dr. Khalid Hassan, Dean Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Syed Shoaib Hussain Shah, Director Hospital Col. (R) Dr. Ghulam Mujtaba Abbasi and various Heads of Departments.
The winning students were awarded trophies, medals, shields and certificates for different events such as the Quiz, Literary and Art Competitions including the Hike. Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis and Cricket were the games for which prizes were distributed.
The Faculty Chief Organizers of different events along with their teams were also honored with shields and certificates during the course of the ceremony.
Looking at the ecstatic faces and beaming smiles of the students honoured for various events and games, made everyone realize the importance of such events in a student’s life. Islamabad Medical & Dental College (IMDC)’s Social Affairs Society (SAS), in collaboration with Dr Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital (ANTH), arranged a free medical camp near Bari Imam, Islamabad for transgenders, who are the most neglected community.
A large number of transgenders benefitted from the medical camp where screening for diabetes and hypertension alongside vision checkup & BMI was provided. Consultations for general diseases and free medicines were also provided to everyone coming to the medical camp.

The participants were given education about the preventive measures and healthy lifestyle to maintain good health. Other than transgenders, some underprivileged people also attended the camp to avail free medical facilities and they were equally guided about healthy habits & diets.
The beneficiaries were glad to see such a useful step taken by ANTH & IMDC for them. They thanked the hospital and the college management & students, and expressed their wish to have more such medical camps on a regular basis.
