The five years MBBS program at IMDC is designed to raise conscientious and compassionate physicians who contribute constructively towards healthcare improvement in the country. We strive for the satisfaction of all the stakeholders with creativity, passion and positivity.
Our program is based on integrated modular curriculum which has been rolled out last year under the instruction of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU). Student–centered learning, integration of basic and clinical disciplines, emphasis on clinical and communication skills, scholarly activities and awareness of medical ethics are the hallmarks of this curriculum model.
Our five years program is organized into two halves:
The first half is pre-clinical years (Years I, II & III) and integration is followed in spiral fashion:
Students undergo real life clinical experiences in clerkship format. Mandatory electives are planned for research and clinical exposure in various national and international institutions.
Dental Section, Islamabad Medical & Dental College was established in 2010 to start the BDS program. The vision was to prepare Dental Practitioners for the country and meet development needs through the provision of oral health services to our population. This program is reviewed every year and as a result of the review process changes are suggested to improve the quality of dental education and hence the BDS curriculum keeps on evolving. The curriculum review process has brought about a major change which is the adoption of module based curriculum.
The length of the 4-year BDS program is divided into first two years of Preclinical/Basic sciences, followed by two years of clinical sciences.
The foundational basic sciences and preclinical courses are taught primarily in the first two years of curriculum, the students are given an early exposure to patient care. Direct patient care under close supervision begins in the third year and continues in final year. The clinical curriculum is competency based; focusing on patient-centred comprehensive care with additional clinical experience provided by rotations to specialty and community clinics. In addition to our required curriculum, BDS students have abundant opportunities for individualized professional development through various student societies, extracurricular experience in research, teaching, leadership, sports, and community service.
There are 50 Seats for BDS which are open to all national and international students with equivalent qualification, subject to admission regulations.

So that the candidates will be fully competent to practice, teach and do research in the broader disciplines of Medical Laboratory Technology.
Medical Laboratory Technology is a profession that combines the challenges and rewards of Medicine with Laboratory Science. Medical laboratory Technologists perform complex and varied laboratory analyses, and use critical thinking skills in determining the accuracy and validity of test results. They recognize the interdependency of testing information and possess the knowledge of physiologic and pathologic conditions affecting results in order to support medical decisions. In diverse health care settings, Clinical Laboratory Scientists provide test results used by such practitioners as physicians, in determining: the presence, extent, and causes of disease; monitoring therapy; and evaluating testing protocols to ensure optimum and safe public health applications.
MLT professionals perform sophisticated laboratory investigations on the human body or on specimens taken from the human body. They also evaluate the technical sufficiency of the investigations and their results. The results of these tests provide important information that doctors or other health care professionals need to make decisions about their patients' health.
